Jim Spencer has been engineering, producing, mixing and mastering records for over 20 years. His first freelance engineered album went in straight at number one in the UK album charts and he hasn’t looked back since.
He has a string of top ten albums and singles to his name, with credits including… New Order, Johnny Marr, The Charlatans, Robert Wyatt, The Cribs, Electronic and The Vaccines amongst many others.
Jim added mastering to his C.V. a number of years back when asked by Johnny Marr if he’d consider mastering one of his releases. Since then he has gone on to master many great sounding records for many different artists.
Jim’s wealth of experience in mixing and producing successful records gives him a critical insight into the mastering process. He views mastering as an important part of the overall production philosophy and his approach is sympathetic with the client’s perspective.
Most mastering engineers don’t have the advantage of Jim’s extensive skill set. His track record of making great sounding records with successful artists speaks for itself.
